Kurwin,
I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember going to visit her and your
dad when I was younger and she always brought out the cookies and cakes. You never went away from her house hungry. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Konnie Boe (Larson)

Kurwin & family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I look at Elnora's picture and I am immediate reminded of Grandma Larson. I recall the times when us "city" kids would come out to Sig/Elnora's and Ed/Elta's farms and have a ball. How my brother (Kevin) created the nick name Eltanora cuz we could remember which one was which. We are truely blessed to have had them in our lives. Dad (Kenneth) would be so sad today but instead he is there with open arms to welcome her home. We will miss her sweet welcome when we would surprise her with a drop by visit on our way through Clark to visit Dad's grave and of course there would be food served! For the passed 5 years us girls have been working on perfecting the lefsa recipe that she gave to us...we don't ever expect to get to her level of perfection but her tips along the way have meant the world to us. She will be missed...deepest sympathy from the Boe (Kenneth Larson)family.

Thinking of you all during this very sad time! Elnora reminded me so much of grandma that whenever I got to see her or whenever she would write a card to me it made me feel a little closer to grandma! The video was wonderful - so nice to see everyone's families all together. Elnora certainly did live a full and long life and it is clear that she was very blessed with a loving family - but it is never easy for those left behind to say "good bye"! Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

My Larson siblings and cousins get together in November before Thanksgiving and make lefsa – I went one year – then wrote this…

Grandpa Larson’s Norwegian Lefsa as made by the Swiss Woman (the recipe was passed down to us by Aunt Elnora):

Can you smell it?

Whiffs of wood smoke from the fireplace and the first hints of cinnamon and nutmeg in the kitchen.

Nearly all the leaves on the trees have surrendered to the ground. The sky has become a flat scrim of grey in the cool crisp air. We have lived through Halloween, the time change, and in some years the election. The HARVEST, as farmer scrabble to claim the end of their crops, is a time for gratitude.

Life has slowed down. There's something comforting in the increasing dark and cold about eating our familiar foods. My family has still eaten essentially the same meal for Thanksgiving as we did the year before, since the beginning of my memories. I never knew that the greatest gratitude could come from routine and what’s familiar –family traditions – especially when they are no longer with us. Time and change are not our friends, but now we lay down our differences for the season. Little squeaks and giggles the best noise in the world – was it me or my grandchild? We drop everything but our thankfulness.

We can think of no better way to celebrate that gratitude than with food. The long communal table, heaped high with platters of steaming turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberries and lefsa. Lots of lefsa rolled paper thin and without too much flour. A happy table surrounded by family and friends.

May you find peace in your memeories. Starla Larson-Pfeifer

What a special lady, Elnora, was to me. I was only 18 when she became my mother-in-law and the next 34 years I had the priveledge to have her as my special "Mom". Her family was very special to her and she to them. I am sorry I could not attend the memorial and funeral service for her, due to influenza, but my prayers and love go with her to her new home in heaven.
