He was born LaVerne Terry Springer on May 11, 1931 at Watertown, the son of Harry Eugene and Linda (Gilliland) Springer. He was raised in Watertown and then the family moved to Florence before they settled in Bradley in 1940. LaVerne attended school in Bradley and graduated from Bradley High School in 1950. He worked on the family farm until entering the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Bradley where he worked at the Bradley Grain Elevator.

On June 2, 1957 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Harrington in the Baptist Church at Bradley. The couple has lived at Bradley since. After his work at the elevator, he began to learn the trade of carpentry from Maurice Rick of Bradley. He also worked for Berven and MBK Construction of Watertown and then in 1980, along with his sons, he began what has become to be known as Springer Construction. He and his sons have operated it since, LaVerne even working up until last winter when heath issues forced him to semi-retire.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bradley, the Larry F. Hartman American Legion Post #108 of Bradley, VFW Post #750 of Watertown and the Bradley Volunteer Fire Department.

Some of his favorite pastimes were spent hunting pheasants and deer, fishing, trapping pocket gophers, camping and throwing horseshoes and spending time in his big garden. His granddaughters, ShyAnn and Sierra, shared many special moments with him, something he thoroughly enjoyed.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Viola and Donald Springer and Maxine Best.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife Dorothy and sons, Daniel Springer, Dale Springer and friend Gina Kannas and Roger (Lorie) Springer all of Bradley, two granddaughters, ShyAnn and Sierra Springer and a sister, Leona (Ernest) Lien of Marshall, MI.
